The Process

live event painting

1. Contact Julia!

I provide live event painting services for weddings and corporate events. If your event has passed, I can create a painting based on photographs.  Fill out the form below for a free price quote.  Live paintings start at $3000 and vary based on size and location.  (Based in Michigan, I travel worldwide.)

2. Determine your scene

As you say your "I Do's"?  Champagne toast or cake cutting?  First dance?  We'll discuss the details for your painting 1 month before the event to ensure the moments most important to you are captured.

3. Entertain your guests!

I arrive 1-2 hours before the event to begin painting the background.  This sets the scene for the addition of guests upon arrival.  I interact with guests as they witness the painting evolve throughout the night.  They love to peek over my shoulder and take pictures as the scene unfolds!

4. Refinement

After the event, the painting is yours!  If it's not quite finished yet, then your painting will be taken to my private studio to refine the details and colors.  I offer touch-ups at no additional charge to ensure you are 100% satisfied with the completed painting.

5. Enjoy!

I offer free delivery to local clients, usually within 3-5 weeks of the event.  For out of town couples, your painting will ship within the same time frame.  Hanging hardware is attached to the back of your painting so it is ready to hang on your wall upon delivery.

I want to buy a painting, but I don't see it in the shop.

Original paintings are sold through galleries, businesses, and directly through my studio.  Email or leave a message on the "Contact" page with the title of the piece you'd like to purchase and I will send you availability and pricing information.

Can I order a Commission?

Yes!  I accept numerous commissions throughout the year, completing custom paintings for both residential and commercial spaces.  Subject matter includes portraits, pets, homes, and more!  View samples of my commissioned paintings here.

Do you sell prints?

Yes! Visit the shop to view available hand signed limited edition giclees and paper prints.

When will you paint my city's skyline in the Reflection Series?

I complete a certain number of Reflection Paintings, Live Event Paintings, and Commissions at a time.  Feel free to inquire if you'd like to see where your city skyline is on the list!

How can I be the first to know when new paintings are available?

What methods of payment do you accept?

Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, PayPal, and check.

What about shipping?

All fine art products ship within 5-7 business days.  Originals and limited editions on canvas are shipped via FedEx.  Paper prints are rolled in a tube and shipped via USPS Priority Mail.

What about framing?

Every piece of art can be framed by the collector.  I can also frame the painting for you for an additional fee plus the cost of framing. However, all originals and limited editions on canvas are gallery wrapped on 1.5 inch bars.  The sides are painted so framing is NOT required.

Will you feature my painting on social media?

I love sharing client photos with others! Email your picture with my artwork displayed in your home for a chance to be featured on my website, Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.

Can I return my fine art product?

If the artwork purchased is not perfect for your space, you may return it within 14 days for a full refund, minus to/from shipping costs.  All returns must be undamaged.  Email for more information and return shipping address.

I live in the mid-Michigan area. Can I eliminate shipping costs?

Absolutely!  Contact me to arrange for delivery.


Do you travel?

Of course!  You buy, I fly.  Contact me with your wedding date and location for package information and any applicable travel expenses.

What does the venue need to provide?

I have a minimal set up and provide all materials necessary to complete a live event painting (easel, canvas, paint, light, etc.).  I do require a small painting area of approximately 5'x5' inside or outside, as well as a nearby power outlet for my lamp. 

My ceremony is only 20 minutes long.  Can you still paint it?

Definitely!  I will paint as much as I can at the ceremony while taking pictures during it.  Then, if your reception is at the same location, I will continue to paint at the reception using the reference photographs.  This provides entertainment for your guests, allowing them to view the painting as it progresses throughout the event!

My event was last year. Can I still get a painting?

Yes!  I can create a painting of a passed event based on photographs and/or video references.

Can you create multiple paintings at my event?

My standard live event packages include one medium or large painting.  It is also possible to have two smaller paintings created onsite (such as one of the ceremony and one of the reception) or one live painting, with other paintings completed based on photographs.

Can I get a print of my painting?

You can add prints on canvas, paper, or thank-you cards to your live event painting package.  This is a great gift idea for parents and grandparents!
